About Alex Puryear
As a visual artist, my work explores the layered relationship between emotion, transformation, and the unseen. Through mixed media, I translate personal narratives into abstract forms—merging texture, color, and improvisation to reflect both internal landscapes and shared human experiences. Each piece is a process of unraveling and rebuilding, often guided by intuition, memory, and sound.
My practice is rooted in expressionism and surrealist tendencies, allowing spontaneous gestures and unconventional materials to lead the way. I draw inspiration from music, lived experiences, and the healing nature of creation itself. Painting becomes both a meditative act and a means of storytelling—where chaos meets clarity, and vulnerability becomes strength.
